Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to https://repository.cornwallhealthlibrary.nhs.uk/.

The Web Team at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust manages this website. It is designed to be used by as many people as possible. The text should be clear and simple to understand. You should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels, and fonts
  • Increase font size
  • Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand, aiming for a reading age of a 12-year old. A lot of our content is technical, and we use technical terms where there is no easier wording we could use without changing what the text means.

If you have a disability then AbilityNet has advice to help you make your device easier to use.

How accessible this website is

We have worked hard to make sure our site is accessible to everyone. This has involved reviewing content, refining the navigation and making technical changes to ensure we are compliant with the web content accessibility guidelines.

With this in mind, we are always looking to improve accessibility and there are some parts of this website which are still not fully accessible and examples include:

  • Some pages are not written in plain English

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Cornwall Health Library is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AAA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Issues with technology

The vast majority of our website works correctly on any web technology. However, this website does not support Internet Explorer, as this browser is at the end of its lifecycle. Read more information about the withdrawal of Internet Explorer support.

Issues with text and content

There are some issues with text and content which we are aware of:

  • not all of our content reaches our target reading age of 12 years old, due to the nature of this website
  • some of our page titles are long, causing a technical fail on descriptive titles for web pages which requires titles to be short; in most cases, this is because the name of a test is long and cannot be avoided

How we tested this website

This website was and is currently being tested for compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines V2.1 level A, AA and AAA. These tests have been carried out using Silktide.

This statement was prepared on 08 November 2022.
